Requirements

Must be at least 17 years of age.
Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
Must hold at least a third-class medical certificate.
Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the knowledge test.
Must pass a knowledge test.
Must log at least 40 hours of flight time that includes at least 20 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor and 10 hours of solo flight training.
Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the practical test.
Must pass a practical flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.

Privileges & Limitations

May not fly for compensation or hire.
May only fly during visual flight rules (VFR) weather conditions (unless the pilot holds an instrument rating).
