Requirements

Must hold at least a current private pilot certificate.
Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the knowledge test.
Must pass a knowledge test.
Must have logged at least 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command.
Must log at least 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time that includes at least 15 hours of instrument flight training from an authorized instructor
Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the practical test.
Must pass a practical flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.

Privileges & Limitations

May fly in category and class for which authorized with less than visual flight rule minimums.
